I have a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer that won't shift from 1st to 2nd-automatic transmission (I can outsmart it by revving up a bit and then coasting and then it switches into gear). Once past this, operates fine. Diagnostic machine at the dealership indicates transmission needs overhaul. I have 106,000 miles on the car. Worth investing a minimum of the quoted $2400 for overhaul with seal kit and clutch converter? Help!
