03 mitsubishi eclipse hesitation (is it egr trouble)

I had autozone run a check on my car about a week ago. They told me I had some EGR troube (in more ways than one) but I don't really know what any of that means and I don't remember particularly what they said it was.
Anyways, my car is now hesitating, it doesn't want to shift into gear at first, then it will lung, only to stop again. I don't wanna believe its the tranny & i know some egr problems can cause this. So what should I look at. I'm completely immobile at this time so I need help ASAP!
